Construction Seasons 2020-2021
The project is substantially complete and the project team would like to thank everyone for a successful construction season!
The project team would like to thank the users and public for their assistance in making this project successful!
The 2019 Juneau International Airport Sustainability Master Plan recommended several projects needed for safety and capacity improvements, including various reconfiguration and/or rehabilitation projects to Taxiways A, D1 and E. Construction activities for this work will begin in spring 2020 and run through the 2020 and 2021 summer construction season
In 2020, construction work will widen and extend Taxilane H for aircraft use during upcoming Taxiway A construction and taxiway D1 will be relocated. During this work, portions of Taxilane H and Taxiway A will be closed to users, requiring advance notice, occasional relocation and temporary taxi routes to maintain aircraft access. In addition, Taxilane H will have variable size restrictions requiring close coordination with aircraft users and ATC. During 2020, an airport lighting regulator vault (ALRV) will be constructed.
In 2021, Taxiway A will be reconstructed, Taxiway E will be relocated, and Taxilane H used to reduce runway backtaxi requirements during taxiway A & E closures. Additional work includes airfield lighting improvements and FAA upgrades to the runway visual range (RVR) system.
